When is the Driving License Suspended?
According to the traffic violation points system in KSA, a driver’s license will be suspended if the number of points recorded against them reaches 24 points within one Hijri year:
- First Time (24 points in one Hijri year): License suspension for 3 months.
- Second Time (24 points in one Hijri year): License suspension for 6 months.
- Third Time (24 points in one Hijri year): License suspension for 1 year.
- Fourth Time (24 points in one Hijri year): License will be permanently revoked.
Calculating Driving Violation Points
The traffic police in KSA impose heavy fines and award black points on the driver’s license for the following 21 traffic violations:
- Driving under alcohol or drug influence: 24 points + SR 10,000 fine.

- Not complying with traffic regulations at road intersections: 6 points + SR 300 fine.
- Overtaking vehicles on curves and hills: 6 points + SR 500 fine.
- Stopping on railroads: 6 points + SR 1,000 fine.
- Speeding at a check post by more than 25 kph: 4 points + SR 300 fine.
- Driving in lanes not intended for driving: 4 points + SR 100 fine.
- Overtaking a school bus when stopped to board or unload: 4 points + SR 3,000 fine.
- Uncovering or untying transported loads: 4 points + SR 500 fine.
- Making illegal modifications to a vehicle’s body: 4 points + SR 300 fine.
- Driving without a seatbelt: 2 points + SR 150 fine.
- Using mobile phones while driving: 2 points + SR 500 fine.
- Riding a motorbike without a helmet: 2 points + SR 1,000 fine.

Currently, there is no online method to check traffic violation points in KSA. However, you can manually calculate the points based on the table provided above. When someone reaches 24 points, they will receive an SMS from the traffic police department in Saudi Arabia notifying them of their driving license suspension period.
