List of Traffic Violation Fines for Taxi Drivers
The Public Transport Authority has issued 24 fines for traffic violations by public and private taxi drivers in Saudi Arabia. Here’s the revised list
How to Calculate Traffic Violation Points in KSA?
SR 5,000 Fine
The following violations will result in a fine of SR 5,000 for taxi drivers:
- Private taxis transporting passengers for a fee within or between cities in Saudi Arabia.
- Unauthorized modifications to the taxi.
- Operating a taxi beyond its approved service life.
- Not installing the electronic fare meter in the taxi.
- An expat driving a taxi without having the Iqama profession of a taxi driver.
SR 3,000 Fine
These infractions will incur a fine of SR 3,000:
- Not starting the fare calculation meter at the beginning of the trip.
- Failing to contact the PTA within 10 days of being summoned.
- Operating a public taxi with an expired work permit/Iqama.
SR 2,000 Fine
The following offenses will result in a SR 2,000 fine:
- Operating with an expired Fahas certificate.
- Failing to turn over lost passenger items to the police.
SR 1,000 Fine
Violations leading to a SR 1,000 fine include:
- Asking passengers to exit the taxi after the trip has started.
- Delaying the renewal of the taxi license.
- Picking up passengers directly from the main road.
- Not presenting license documents when requested.
- Not placing required signs, plates, or phrases inside the taxi.
- Not updating the Saudi National Address.
- Not converting a public taxi into a private car after its lifespan has expired.
SR 500 Fine
The following infractions will incur a SR 500 fine:
- Smoking or allowing passengers to smoke inside the taxi.
- Violating passengers’ privacy under any circumstances.
- Carrying bags and non-hand luggage in the car cabin instead of the trunk.
- Not adhering to public morals and failing to treat passengers properly.
- Neglecting appearance and personal hygiene.
- Failing to maintain the cleanliness of the taxi’s interior and exterior.
- Not assisting persons with disabilities in getting in or out of the taxi.
