King Salman Directs Support for Stranded Iranian Hajj Pilgrims

Riyadh – June 2025: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has instructed Saudi authorities to provide full support to Iranian pilgrims currently stranded in the Kingdom following the temporary closure of Iranian airspace.
The directive was issued after Israel carried out early-morning airstrikes targeting key Iranian nuclear facilities and military leaders. In response, Tehran shut down its airspace, leaving many Hajj pilgrims unable to return home.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the plan to assist the affected pilgrims was proposed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and approved by the King. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will oversee all necessary arrangements to ensure the comfort and safety of the Iranian pilgrims until they are able to travel back.
The annual pilgrimage, which concluded on Monday, saw over 1.6 million Muslims from around the world gather in the holy cities. Iranian nationals traditionally represent a significant portion of the Hajj crowd.
Later on Friday, Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks toward Tel Aviv, escalating regional tensions and prompting concerns about further conflict.
